1997

Agreement

A development and operation rights agreement was signed with the Taipei City government.

2000-2001

Milestones in the Construction of Taipei 101

  1. The first tower column was erected.

  2. The design was changed to a 508.2-meter height, approved by the Taipei City government.

  3. Taipei 101 Mall topped out.

  4. Construction license awarded for 101 stories.

1999

Ground-breaking ceremony

This marked the beginning of the construction process for what would become one of the most iconic skyscrapers in the world. 

2003

Pre opening

  1. Taipei 101 Mall obtains occupancy permit.

  2. Taipei 101 Tower roof completed.

  3. Pinnacle placed.

  4. Taipei 101 Mall opens.

2004

Grand Opening

  1. Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) certifies Taipei 101 as world's tallest building.

  2. Tower obtains occupancy permit.

  3. Tower opens to the public.
