The building has switched to more energy-efficient lighting and control devices. Through the Energy Management and Control System (EMCS), building managers can adjust working temperatures based on tenant needs, modify chiller schedules, and adjust chilled water distribution.

With over 100,000 detection points, the EMCS allows for comprehensive building metering. It's programmed to alert when energy consumption exceeds expected values by more than 5%, activating energy-saving measures through automatic shutoffs and intelligent temperature stabilization. Sensors regularly adjust air conditioning in mechanical areas, monitor outdoor temperatures at different tower heights to adjust indoor settings accordingly, and regulate lighting between day and night.

Energy-Saving Achievements

In 2019, Taipei 101 collaborated with the Taipei City Government on a carbon audit project, replacing parking lot lights with LEDs, achieving 1,359 tons of carbon credits. This initiative made it the first in the nation among residential and commercial buildings to offset carbon credits, even covering the annual fireworks surplus. Additionally, Taipei 101 ranks in the top 30% of high-rise office buildings in the U.S. Energy Star benchmark database, reducing annual energy consumption by 33.41 million kWh and saving over $2 million each year.
